Condemned Hallway

This project was inspired by games like Resident Evil 7 and Condemned. I aimed to recreate the mood and atmosphere of these titles, with a strong focus on layering detail throughout the environment. The project was completed over roughly 12 weeks in my spare time.

A lot of thought went into building up physical and visual layers, ripped wallpaper reveals aged plaster, beneath which are broken wooden lathes. This approach extended into the materials as well, where peeling paint uncovers older layers and eventually the bare wood beneath.

Houdini enabled fast iteration and allowed me to build small tools for generating variations, such as different types of cobwebs, peeling wallpaper, broken plaster, and trash bags. I used Substance Designer to create custom materials and decals, and Substance Painter for textured props like the chair, trash bags, and weathered wooden panels.
